New metric: track your unique original articles accurately

Enterprise customers can now report on New original articles directly in Explore, making it easier to measure how much content a newsroom actually produces, not only how many times that content is distributed or republished.

Until now, the New articles metric counted every published version of an article. For media groups that syndicate content across multiple properties, a single original article republished by 10 or 15 outlets would therefore count as 10 or 15 new articles.

The new New original articles metric identifies articles that share the same original source and counts them as a single piece of content. This gives editorial and strategy teams a much clearer view of their true content production.

For example, you can now:

  • Compare New original articles with New articles to understand how widely content is being syndicated
  • Measure how many original stories each author or team produces
  • See which authors’ content is distributed most frequently across the group
  • Track original editorial output over time without republished copies inflating the numbers
  • Apply Explore dimensions, filters, and date ranges to analyze original production across publications, authors, sections, or other segments

Example: A media group with 8 titles publishes a single investigation that is then syndicated across all of them. New articles reports 8, while New original articles reports 1. Group the metric by Original Content Authors or Original Content Sections to see original output per author or desk, without republished copies inflating the numbers. Learn how to combine it with the syndicated content dimensions.

The metric is available to Enterprise customers in the Explore metrics picker and works across all reporting granularities.

Measure what your team actually creates, not only how many times it is distributed or republished.
