User roles and permissions for access control
A role is the authorization given to users that controls which information, reports, and actions they can access. Each user only sees what is relevant for their required activities. Roles can be combined to customize individual access according to the needs of the publisher.
The following list describes all available user roles, ordered from basic to most advanced. When adding or editing users, select one or more of these roles to define their level of access.
Enables access to all features and modules listed below, without exception.
Advertising Manager
Section titled “Advertising Manager”Allows Analysts additional access in order to use:
- Monetization metrics like CPM or revenue in Explore (when Ad Manager is integrated)
- Revenue metrics in Optimize
- Access to Monetization playbook
Affiliation Manager
Section titled “Affiliation Manager”Grants the user permissions to view revenue data from affiliation programs in Explore, and in specific affiliation playbooks.
Analyst
Section titled “Analyst”A more advanced role for team members who need access to a broader range of data and insights. Analysts can use:
- Explore (except monetization)
- Optimize
- MarfeelCast
- Recirculation
- Audits
- Web vitals
- Add new Tags to an account
Big Screen User
Section titled “Big Screen User”A dedicated user role to enable big screen mode on digital signage displays in newsrooms.
Content Opportunities
Section titled “Content Opportunities”Enables access to the Content Opportunities playbook, which offers a fine-tuned analysis on content production. Usually reserved for section editors and directors.
Copilot Manager
Section titled “Copilot Manager”Grants the user access to Marfeel Copilot’s Organization-level settings and can edit these.
Curated Content
Section titled “Curated Content”Typically for team members with editorial privileges, allowing users to add articles to the list recommendations (otherwise defined algorithmically).
Experiences admin
Section titled “Experiences admin”Enables access to experiences global settings such as layouts and templates.
Experiences editor
Section titled “Experiences editor”- Enables access to no-code solutions in the Experiences module such as Recommender and Flowcards.

Homepage Editor
Section titled “Homepage Editor”The same access as Viewer, but with:
- Ability to run Headline and Image A/B tests on Heads Up Display.
- Access to historial AB tests results.
Monitoring Manager
Section titled “Monitoring Manager”Grants permission to create, update and delete Monitoring boards at an Organization level.
Push Manager
Section titled “Push Manager”Allows the user to create and manage push notification campaigns.
Social Media Admin
Section titled “Social Media Admin”Grants full admin privileges over Marfeel Social and can add and remove users. View a detailed breakdown of Marfeel Social user roles here.
User Manager
Section titled “User Manager”Grants permission to create, update, or delete other users.
Viewer
Section titled “Viewer”The most basic role, giving team members access to:
- Compass (Real-time Dashboard)
- Good Morning report
- Workspaces created by them or shared with them
- Heads Up Display
- View existing SERP results
API user
Section titled “API user”Grants permission to Marfeel’s reporting API

Yes, roles can be combined to customize individual user access. For example, a user can have both the Analyst and Advertising Manager roles to access analytics data along with monetization metrics. You can also assign roles at scale through Teams.
