Media Metrics & Dimensions

Media Metrics & Dimensions let you measure how users consume and engage with video and podcast content across your site. Marfeel captures media data automatically, giving you the performance signals you need to optimize your multimedia strategy.

The following metrics represent total figures across your whole site. You can drill down into each metric for specific segments of your traffic using Marfeel’s many Dimensions.

The average number of ad impressions per media play, calculated as $\frac{Media Ad Impressions}{Media Plays}$.

The average RFV of users who generated an impression of the selected media content.

The average rate at which users reproduce the selected media content.

Measures the percentage of media content that results in a play

The average RFV of users who play the selected media content.

The average reproduction duration of the selected media content.

The percentage of the media’s total duration that users consume on average.

The total number of ad impressions generated by the publisher’s media.

The total number of impressions received by the publisher’s media.

The number of plays of the selected media content.

Note:
If a video is played, paused, and then played again, it still counts as one unique Media Play

The number of unique users who have played the selected media content at least once.

A selector that denotes whether a page contains audio media, such as a podcast.

A selector that denotes whether a page contains video media.

A selector that denotes whether a page contains a piece of multimedia content, such as hasAudio or hasVideo.

A binary selector that denotes whether a piece of media is live, with the alternative being on-demand.

The author of a piece of media content.

The multimedia player used to reproduce media content.

The publication time of a piece of media content.

The title of a piece of media content.

How is a media play counted if a user pauses and resumes?

If a video is played, paused, and then played again, it still counts as one unique media play.

What is the difference between Has Audio, Has Video, and Has Media dimensions?

Has Audio filters pages containing audio media such as podcasts. Has Video filters pages containing video media. Has Media is a broader selector that includes any page with multimedia content, covering both audio and video.

How is Engagement Rate calculated for media content?

Engagement Rate is the percentage of the media’s total duration that users consume on average, indicating how much of a video or podcast audiences actually watch or listen to.
